Icy Nash

At dawn Thursday, the forecast for the evening was tricky. All day rain poured down, creating a challenge for the Nash GOP volunteers to setup for the evening extravaganza. Weather prognosticators warned of plunging temps after dark, creating black ice hazards. But the show went on. Dutiful and solid volunteers showed up early to decorate the convention hall and help Pam Mullen roll out the red carpet and umbrella stand. A mobile registration area, equipped with Excel, laptops, and data, was assembled by Secretary Lucy Massie (Thanks Mrs. Massie for letting me help with this vital check-in setup!). Momeyer Ruritan put on a spread of pork chops and chicken, filling the convention hall with a tasty aroma. Chair Mark Edwards welcomed Tami Fitzgerald for an update. The largest convention in the history of the Nash GOP was underway. After election of officers and delegates, the meeting was adjourned. Lots of hand shaking was going on as a quick cleanup commenced. I saw Robbie Davis help with several rain coats on the way out. Black ice would not form until delegates were safe and snug back in their Nash homes.
