Blue Devils were not there
Saturday March 7 dawned early in the Bull City. Preparations had been made for months, and the Durham County Republican Party opened its convention hall doors wide to delegates from around the county. No, the Blue Devils were not there, because they were preparing for the epic battle in Chapel Hill later that night. But many eager Republicans and guests gathered to conduct the business of the Durham GOP. Outgoing Chair Ted Hicks recited a look back at the many successes of the past two years. After a contested election with a comfortable margin of victory, new Chair Immanuel Jarvis was congratulated all around. Ever present, the Triangle Republican Women provided delicious breakfast and lunch options for the delegates in attendance. Once the tables and chairs were tidied, the hall cleared as Durham delegates slipped into the blue sky afternoon. It was Carolina blue, but only until the sun went down.
