My Donuts Are Patriotic!

On the morning of Saturday March 28, I am sure there were “hot now” signs all over the Krispy Kreme world. The donuts delivered to the Wayne County Agricultural Center at 8:00am were not hot, but they sure were good. Someone decorated one with a tiny American flag, making them the sweetest, most patriotic donuts in the land.
As you may know, North Carolina-inspired products are near and dear to my heart. One of those is donuts and Winston-Salem is the home of Krispy Kreme. We may be a tiny bit partial, because so many people grew up with the trademark green-and-red Krispy Kreme boxes and hats.
Of note, Wayne County is the fifth best county in the United States to farm. Read more here:
Despite the early hour, the assembled crowd was in good spirits. There was a passel of elected officials in attendance, because Wayne County knows how to win and how to govern. Sheriff Larry Pierce, along with all five county commissioners, was in attendance and thanked the delegates for their help. Commissioner Joe Daughtery, along with colleagues Ray Mayo, Bill Pate, Wayne Aycock, and Joe Gurley, shared a LONG list of accomplishments that Wayne County has experienced under their 5-2 majority and their conservative leadership. I mean LONG. The people of Wayne County should be extremely proud. It’s a beautiful sight to see and music to all ears.
Senator Louis Pate shared about the NC Senate, Representative Jimmy Dixon shared about the NC House, and there’s a busy season still ahead in the NC General Assembly.
The newly elected chair is Brent Heath, taking over from long-time chair Bob Jackson. Ann Sullivan and Jerry Grantham were re-elected as first and second vice-chairs, respectively. Ann was a little under the weather and was there in spirit; many good thoughts and prayers were sent her way.
Of note, Freeman Hardison has done a great job getting the party back “online” – check out his handiwork here. http://www.waynencgop.com/
I’m not telling, but I may have had another donut on the way out.
Krispy Kreme rocks!
